TRASH FREE SEAS

The Seabin can collect 1.5kg of waste a day, which equates to 20,000 plastic bottles or 83,000 plastic bags a year. It also traps fragments of plastic as small as 2mm in diameter. Costing £3,000, it is being installed in Portsmouth harbour, next to the base of Sir Ben Ainslie’s yacht racing team.

The inventors are two Australian surfers, Pete Ceglinski and Andrew Turton, who wanted to find a solution to the waste clogging many marinas and harbours
